China to see 2.36 billion passenger trips in upcoming holiday

Guangzhou (JLC), September 28, 2025--China is expected to see about 2.36 billion passenger trips nationwide during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday starting Wednesday, according to a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Sunday.

 

The daily average will stand at 295 million passenger trips, up 3.2% year on year.

 

Self-driving travel is projected to reach 1.87 billion trips, accounting for nearly 80% of the total. During peak periods. Highway traffic volume may exceed 70 million vehicles per day, including up to 14 million new energy vehicles.

 

Passenger trips on Chinas railways are estimated to surpass 219 million, setting a new record.

 

Meanwhile, the civil aviation sector are expected to handle about 19.2 million air passenger trips during the holiday, a 3.6% increase from the same period of time last year and a historical high.
